Brian and Joan Regrut and Wael Melek are heading to Egypt on October 25 and want to take bags full of blessings to our brothers and sisters at the Evangelical Church of Sadat City. If you have an item of clothing you haven't worn in a while consider donating it to the Sadat Church so they can, in turn, bless their community.
Here are some suggestions:
Women: slacks, blouses, dresses and skirts (below the knee), sweatshirts/hoodies, jackets
Men: jeans, casual slacks, shirts (all styles), athletic gear, sweatshirt/hoodies, jackets
(It doesn’t get cold in Egypt, but winter evenings are often in the 50s and most of the houses don't have heat.)
We definitely want to bring a laptop for creating and running media for church services. If you have one, call Brian Regrut 804-338-1776 to discuss how to make the donation.
We would like to have everything collected by Sunday, October 16.
Highlights of our Mission Trip:
On Wednesday, Oct. 26 when we arrive we'll be meeting with the young adults and Wael Melek, the seminary student who is interning at Crestwood this Fall, will deliver a message of what it means to stay strong in the Lord in the face of the difficulties of being a Christian in Egypt.
On Thursday, Joan and I will be leading a Marriage Seminar focusing on communication.
On Saturday Wael will conduct a leadership training session. In the evening all of us will be sharing one of Crestwood’s Sunday School lessons (with materials and activities provided by Andy Berry) with 75 elementary kids! (The van donated by Crestwood starts picking up youngsters at 5:00 p.m. and doesn't get the last ones home until 8:30)
Sunday I'll be preaching on One Body in Christ and serving communion with Pastor Essam. After the service we’ll be praying with individual congregation members.
Monday we’ll be attending a prayer meeting with hundreds of others at the largest Evangelical Church in Cairo.
Wednesday we’ll be meeting with leaders at the Synod of the Nile who have helped facilitate partner church relationships between American and Egyptian Presbyterian churches like the one we enjoy with the Sadat City church.
During our week with Pastor Essam and our Egyptian brothers and sisters, we will be holding a prayer walk around the new church building and visiting in the homes of church members. We’ll also be taking in some of the sights and sounds of this ancient country including a visit to a nearby monastery that has served as a center for prayer and service for 1700 years.
Keep us in your prayers as we go and be sure to join Crestwood’s Global Missions Facebook page (CrestwoodRVA Global Missions) where you can follow our adventures as we represent Crestwood and Jesus on our 12,000-mile journey.
